2024[]
On August 1, 2024, along with the announcement of the PIAPRO CHARACTERS SUPER PACK for Piapro Studio V4X and VOCALOID4 (as well as development of an AI version of Hatsune Miku for VOCALOID6), Crypton Future Media, Inc. announced the development of a new update for Hatsune Miku NT.[1][2]
On October 11, Crypton announced that existing licensed users of Hatsune Miku NT would be allowed to freely download and use an early-access version (essentially an early beta) of this new update, which was officially given the name "Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2)", starting on October 23.[3][4][5] This new beta voicebank came bundled with a new prototype iteration of the Piapro Studio NT engine, called Piapro Studio NT2.
2025[]
On March 9, 2025, Crypton tweeted that the full version of Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2), along with Piapro Studio NT2, would be released on March 18.[6][7] Existing owners of her old "Ver.1" NT library were again expected to receive Ver.2 as a free upgrade, and they would not lose access to "Ver.1" as her activation servers would still be up and running. When Miku NT (Ver.2) was released on March 18 (as expected),[8] her old "Ver.1" was discontinued from further sales and downloads.[9] All prior listings for Miku NT on both of Crypton's physical store and SONICWIRE digital shop had their labels and descriptions changed to refer to the new Ver.2, rather than the old version, without changing URLs. Also, the July 2024 physical boxart for the old NT was retained as the boxart for NT (Ver.2). Her full release was celebrated the day after.[10]
A 39-day trial version was also made available on SONICWIRE.

"HATSUNE MIKU NT (Ver.2)" features a newly adopted singing voice synthesis engine and three voice libraries—Original, Dark, and Whisper—all meticulously tuned for the latest Piapro Studio. This version also introduces the user-friendly "Automatic Control" feature, allowing creators to achieve their preferred singing style with ease. By finely adjusting the nuances to match each part of a song—ranging from dynamic and human-like to distinctly mechanical—and using Voice Color to set the tone and intensity for each phoneme, a wide variety of vocal expressions becomes possible. Additionally, by combining voice effectors such as "Voice Drive", "Voice Voltage", and "Super Formant Shifter", you can maintain clarity while exploring everything from the signature bright and cheerful Miku voice to sorrowful tones, angry shouts, raspy vocals, and even death growls. This high-quality voice library is built using newly developed re-synthesis technology. Each vocal fragment is carefully adjusted by analyzing the transitions between consonants and vowels to prevent disruptions or inconsistencies in pronunciation. Furthermore, each database is fine-tuned with multiple sample points and articulations.
